OrthoPediatrics PediNail System
DESCRIPTION

The OrthoPediatrics PediNail System is suitable for pediatric patients and short-statured adults to stabilize femoral shaft fractures, subtrochanteric fractures, ipsilateral neck/shaft fractures, prophylactic nail fixation for impending pathologic fractures, non-unions and malunions, and femoral fixation for patients who have undergone surgical procedures (osteotomy) in preparation for deformity correction surgery.

FEATURES

1. The implant is inserted through the lateral trochanteric entry point, reducing the risk to the vessels near the acetabulum.

2. The complex 3D geometry of the nail, including a proximal lateral bend, allows for easier insertion with minimal need for over drilling or widening of the canal, accommodating the entry point and smaller diameter.

3. The implant itself is designed with anterior bowing to mimic the normal pediatric anatomy of 8-16-year-olds, as well as a distal lateral bend for ease of insertion into the greater trochanter, minimizing interference with the medial cortex.

Product Information

OrthoPediatrics is a pediatric orthopedic company that specializes in developing products and services for children. Their OrthoPediatrics PediPlate System avoids binding the femoral epiphysis, reducing the risk of femoral neck narrowing and hip external rotation, while minimizing interference with the medial cortex. The growth plate is particularly important in children, and other adult alternatives to femoral intramedullary nails can cause damage and compression, leading to deformity later in life.
